Way Back into Love! - Vodka Pasta

It may sound like a cliché, but still I will go on....!

Few months before my two years experiment bombed, it was a big failure which was hard for me to assimilate. It was one reason why I took time off to think about restructuring, possible? or should I walk off. Our hate relationship has been going on past two years...... you will be surprised if I say when we started, we had the best time going hand in hand.
After thoughtful discussions, my supervisors and family didn't allow me to walk way, according to them it is a common phase of every phd life. When much required support and action was done, I decided not to walk off rather to stay in the battlefield to fight. After crossing the field 70%, thought it is time either to kill or get killed.

I mustered all courage got back, few longest meetings, diverted tracks with one aim to find best of many ways to move forward leaving the rest back. So all set and done, I have fallen in love with Mr. PhD all over again, cajoling him every day to say I love you, my new mantra to check if it can create any magic? ;)
Yes now  might all think/ask, why on earth did I take this? I have asked that question million times though it has been my passion and still is!

On a lighter note, PhD is all about Permanent Head Damage yes half done, still 8 more months to go, two manuscripts and one thesis needs to be fixed, then totally damage will be done!

This recipe is from Nigella kitchen. Simple pasta to reach soul on a tired evening. These pictures are taken during mid-winter time, where there were no days without candles. Do enjoy. Catch you all soonish. Chao!

                                                                Exactly me! PhD comics

*Pic's are again not its best, sunken eyes bad editing apologies!

You & I live in perhaps the most polar opposite sides of the earth Ananda & yet what you've been going through with your PhD is similar the world around I'm sure, as all of us go through that - we fall out of love & in love again with our careers. I'm glad your hanging in there kid, and I love your photography - and your pasta...., & the vodka doesn't hurt either huh :)

Aww, Ananda, I'm glad you've overcome the dilemma with a positive mindset. I know you like Paulo Coelho, so I thought I'd find a wee quote for you: "Life always waits for some crisis to occur before revealing itself at its most brilliant".

The vodka pasta looks sublime! :)

Ushnish Ghosh April 4, 2011 at 8:39 PM

Dear Ananda
So you are enjoying your PhD work quite thoroughly I can see. " Kill or getting Killed " Hummm thats the Mantra for the PhD. If I remember correctly, you are doing PhD in physics humm..thats the next toughest one after Maths. Anyway you will come out with flying colors, for sure. And remember humorous people and cooks never fail in their mission.
The candle photographs are very nice.
I like the pasta recipe but I will drink the vodka separately.
I will now read about your niece..
have a nice week without any PHD ( all caps means permanent.... :-)) and concentrate on PhD
Have a nice week.

Namitha April 5, 2011 at 12:38 AM

Lol.. tell me all about PhD :-) My hubby was doing his, while we got married. So after that even though I got into research I never got enough courage to do a PhD (that too mine is in Biology)..lol..But don't worry you'll reach there, everyone who has ever done PhD has gone through it,rt?
Pasta is a great consolation for sure :-)
BTW PhD comics is our fav, still :-)

Ananda, hang on in there. Only 8 months to go, it's nothing after what you've been through. The things we put ourselves through is quite unbelievable sometimes, but I guess it's why we're human. Your pictures look fabulous as ever and the pasta looks delicious.

Soma April 12, 2011 at 5:24 AM

lol.. I am hearing the this version of PHD for the first time:-) makes sense.. but hang in there and there is always vodka for these time! I am yet to make pasta with vodka.

Wendy@The Omnivorous Bear April 22, 2011 at 12:07 PM

Keep going Ananda.. they are right. Everyone goes through this but what happens is that you refine everything and emerge triumphant - if it was easy, everyone in the world would have a PhD! You are doing so well! xxxx
